Amazing. I spilled a cup of coffee on my key board and ruined my logic board. Trio managed to save everything (literally a life saver, I’m a graduate student in the middle of spring semester), I’m an extremely satisfied customer! Thank you !

Great service! My cat jumped up on a table and knocked over a glass of water directly onto my keyboard about a week and a half ago, and completely destroyed my Macbook pro.
Greg had it fixed in about a week and a half! They replaced my display, keyboard, airport wireless card, and fixed my logic board for the estimated cost $580. I was an annoying customer- calling in pretty often to see what was up- Greg and his team were patient and explained everything they were doing. I don’t live in the area, so they paid for the Fedex of the laptop to them, and shipping right back to me. Awesome service!

I can not say enough good things about these guys They had my MacBook Pro back to me within a week (over a holiday weekend too!). I had a little spill on my MacBook and was devastated that it was not working. I took it to the Apple store first and they quoted me a whopping $800 flat fee for liquid damage. So my husband and I were trying to think of any way not to pay that for the Mac. Luckily I found them through Google and called to set up a drop off appointment. They were so wonderful! My MacBook Pro is back to me and working perfectly. They went above and beyond with their service and I know that this is the only place I will be going for any of my Apple repair or upgrades! I wish I had more friends with Macs so that I could tell them this is the only place they will ever need to go! Thank you for the wonderful service Greg!

Very happy with this transaction, the repair only took a few days and I saved $350, way better option than Apple. THANK YOU TRIO!

    Overall, great job!
My daughter had spilled a drink on her MacBook just a few months after the AppleCare package had expired. My daughter took the laptop to the Apple Store and they said the laptop was finished. Beyond repair.
Having worked with Macs for years, I suspected otherwise. I told her to let me have the Mac and go buy something else.
After doing some research I came across Trio. I was very excited about their Liquid Damage Repair. Considering the substantial investment I put into the unit, I at least wanted to give it a shot. After all, 90% of the liquid damaged MacBooks they say are repairable.
Initial contact: I live in town, and tried to expedite the order to save them/me a few bucks by dropping the unit by. Contacted them through their site Friday. Received response within a few hours. Was able to Fedex that day.
Received response from Fedex that unit had be received by the following Tuesday. Took about a a day for technician to call and update me about repair. Told me what my options were. My unit had taken some damage; though, could be repaired. One of the memory slots had failed. To get it back to full operation would require a new/logic board repair. A bit beyond the price of the liquid damage repair. I opted for the liquid damage repair, which left me with 1 slot and 1 GB of ram.
Technician was very knowledgeable about what OS would run smoothly with the current system ram. Said 10.5 Leopard or 10.6 Snow Leopard would work well. Said he had a few more tests and would call me when repair was complete. Two days later he called and said I could get it Fedex or come pick it up.
Long story short, I picked up, installed 10.6 Snow Leopard, works great.
Overall, great job! Took a little longer to repair than I would have liked. Sure beats having an expensive paperweight.

Have to agree with all the 5 stars, flawless experience. Trio was the best price we could find by far and their 1 year warranty is many times longer than anyone else we shopped. Very satisfied customer.

So loosing data is OBVIOUSLY VERY stressful but the guys or gals (Not Sure) at trio123.com are legit. I had a quote in hand from another data recovery company for $2000.00 and I was initially skeptical of Trio’s drastically lower price but when I challenged them on it there explanation was simple, ” In 75% of data recovery cases the cause of the data loss is software related and the process for this type of recovery is straight forward and simple” basically they said that most data recovery companies overcharge for what is a relatively simple service. Thank you Trio for always being clear about the process and costs. within about a week I was back up and running. Sadly, it cost $349 plus I had to spend another $100 for the new external, it wasn’t cheap but I chalk it up to a learning experience and I’m just relieved I have all my stuff back in working order.

If you are reading this, then you are probably in the same situation that I was in when Trio tweeted me, in my haze of Mac induced panic! My MacBook was drunk on a glass of chardonnay and was not taking it well. In fact the drink was the death of it! Or so I thought. The reviews were so great that it actually made me suspicious but I am so glad that I did not allow my paranoia get the best of me and called them to discuss my situation. Jordan was absolutely wonderful! After our conversation I was confident that I had found the right place to repair my Mac. When I received my Mac back I nervously opened it up and it was like nothing had ever happened!! All data, passwords etc were intact … it actually opened back up on the same pages that I was browsing just before the accident.
They even replaced my battery so my MacBook Air is performing like new! Bravo

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical sending my beloved MacBook Pro to Texas but i figured I didn’t have much to lose considering I basically have a very expensive paper weight. The techs at Trio called me about a day after my Mac arrived to let me know they were able to get my Mac back up and running but that I needed a keyboard replacement. The price quoted was higher than I expected at $448.00 but considering Apple wanted $850.00 it was reasonable. Still skeptical I paid for the repair….3 days later my Mac showed up and it is PERFECT!! In fact I am writing this review on it!! SOOOO happy I found you guys and I will spread the word Trio is amazing!!!

I have a lot of respect for this business and I will tell you why.
I sent my MacBook Pro to Trio due to a fried logic board. They were able to give me a FREE and accurate diagnostic of my machine, which came out to be about $500 to replace ($300 cheaper than what Apple charges!), and although it was out of my price range, they did a great job of presenting me with my options.
A miscommunication delayed my order (though to no real effect, since my computer was technically useless anyway), but Trio went out of their way to correct their mistake by contacting me to discuss my options in a very straight-forward and clear manner – showing an integrity and conscientiousness that I think we can all agree is hard to come by. We were able to come to great deal that was a win-win for both of us, leaving me a very happy customer.
All in all, these guys did their job and did it right – responsibly, and honestly. It was a bit of a stressful feeling to send my Macbook to Texas it was the right call, I am satisfied with my experience with Trio. I recommend these guys!

The guys at Trio are incredible! I was so worried when my two year spit water on my less than one year old macbook pro. I was devastated and thought i would never see it again. I did some research and found trio123.com, I was a little nervous sending my computer to Texas (i live in Arizona) but i knew i had no choice but to give it a shot or pretty much kiss my $1600 computer away. The techs quickly assessed the damages and they sent me a quote (which was not too far off from the quotes they have online). I was pleased and they even set up a payment plan for me. It took a few weeks to get my computer back but i got it today and I’m writing this review on it! I couldn’t be happier. The customer service is great and they really keep you in the know every step of the way! Highly recommended!

My MacBooks hard drive crashed around mid-March, so I called Trio on the recommendation of The Apple Store here in the Redmond area after installing a new one. The very pleasant lady (I think her name was Michelle) on the phone explained my options, clearly stated the possible price ranges and assured me that if they could not recover the data I could have my drive back if I wanted.
I explained that most of the things I wanted were Word files containing all my late husband’s writing and our photos that we spent a fortune to have digitized. Since we traveled a lot I had several thousand, including some special ones of birthdays and weddings that were irreplaceable.
She called me back in just a couple of days after I’d shipped the drive and told me the cost (I was shocked), which was at the low end of the price range. After getting a good replacement drive it came to about $349.00. I found them very accommodating. I am ever so thankful that these folks WERE kind, professional and understanding.

So I’m a dj and some idiot sat a drink behind my 15 inch macbook pro on the table and then another idiot bumped the table and knocked it over…the music cut off, everything went black…I thought someone stepped on the power cord…then someone showed me the spilled drink…..I picked up my laptop and it was dripping….(yikes)…I started damn near hyperventilating lol I kept trying to turn it back on and after 5 minutes it did come back on and I finished the party. Cool, right…NO because the next day once the battery was about to die…I plugged the power cord up and heard funny noises and boom off for good. Of course then I found out, never plug it up until you are sure it’s dry. I took it to the Apple store….flat rate $1240 to fix…At this point it was 3 yrs old and I only had one more month of applecare. I just had them remove my hard drive and I purchased an enclosure and used it as an external on my old macbook. In the meantime, I used that as my backup and then purchased a new 13 inch pro that I hope I will never have to take to that club. I kept researching and about 6 wks later found trio123. I was hesitant because I was sending it to strangers in another state but otherwise it was just sitting there so I took a chance. So glad I did, because I’m typing on it now….they fixed it perfectly, they put my hard drive back in and everything and kept me up to date on the status. I would recommend them to anyone who had the unfortunate encounter with liquid and their mac. Awesome service and they give you a whole year warranty vs Apple’s 45 days!

I spilled orange juice on my MacBook Pro keyboard, and I thought there was no hope to ever get it working again. I took it to Apple, and they told me it wasn’t worth repairing. Cheaper to buy a new one. They found me on twitter of all places (not sure how but kinda brilliant if you ask me) They repaired my MacBook for about half of what Apple would have charged, arranged for FedEx ( I’m in Los Angeles), and kept me updated throughout the repair. After 3 weeks my MacBook is as good as new. Still can’t believe how lucky I am to have found this place. They will bring your Mac back to life!

MacBook water damage repair process

Thorough Diagnostic – Any MacBook that is exposed to liquid requires a thorough inspection, even a small amount of corrosion untreated can cause a system failure further down the road.

  • Inspect Keyboard and Track Pad for ANY corrosion or sticky residue – If found a keyboard or track pad replacement is recommended.
  • Inspect Main LogicBord for any sign of liquid exposure.  This should be done with a high powered stereo microscope, each SMD component should be checked for any signs of damage.  If damage is found logic board should be cleaned ultrasonically and damaged SMD components replaced. Here is a video of the SMD repair process.
  • All display connections and wiring should be throughly inspected, any sign of liquid exposure and the display replacement recommended.
  • Data Integrity –  Data integrity should be checked and re checked.  In the vast majority of cases data is not effected. If corrosion is present on SSD or HD replacement is recommended.

Once repair has been completed all units are thoroughly tested to ensure you receive the same amazing performance you enjoyed prior to the spill.

Important to think before you act – What do I do now?

The first thing we can tell you is if you take a water logged Mac into any Apple store chances are you leave with a pretty bad taste in your mouth, while Apple excels at creating magical devices we all love when it comes to servicing these devices the so called Genius Bar often falls short. Here is a sample of what you can expect when you have Apple repair your Macs water damage.

  • The Apple store may decline to repair your MacBook water damage completely This varies from location to location but Apple has built a reputation for declining to service liquid damage citing some type of liability issue, not sure what the liability issue is but my guess is that they intention is to sell you a new MacBook.  The time that I spent working at Apple the policy for handling MacBook water damage was vague at best. I typically hinted that the customer should look for a 3rd party solution.
  • The fee for all MacBook water damage repair on all 13″ MacBooks – MacBook Airs – MacBook Pros at The Apple store is $840.00 –  The fee for all Mac water damage repair on 15″ MacBooks Pros is $1340.00 – That is not a typo, now that you have pulled yourself up of the floor ill explain. Before Apples entry into the retail market (Pre Apple Store) the repairing of Macs was a cost centre  (A cost centre is a part of an organization that does not produce direct profit and adds to the cost of running a company), thus there were hundreds of independent service providers that supported the repairing of Macs.  With the introduction of the brick and mortar Apple Store and the invention of the Genius Bar, Steve Jobs quickly realized that those pesky repairs that used to cost the company millions of dollars could be converted in to a huge profit center (A profit center is a part of a corporation that directly adds to its profit.) not only could they make a boatload of money repairing Macs but the repairs that were not profitable they could price at a level that it would not make any sense for the customer to agree to,  thus driving the sales of new Macs.
  • MacBook water damage is not covered under AppleCare – Im of the personal opinion that AppleCare DOES add value (I can fix just about anything that could ever happen to my Mac or iPhone and I still purchase AppleCare for all of my devices),  that being said where AppleCare falls short is when it comes to accidental damage to MacBooks iMacs and MacPro’s. Unfortunately even a simple call to AppleCare to troubleshoot your Mac after a liquid spill can have long lasting effects, Apple logs every interaction with a customer based on the MacBooks serial number, so if you mention to Apples support team the your troubles started with a glass of spilled water near your Mac chances are your macBook will be flagged as liquid damaged and will not eligible for warranty coverage regardless of where you get the repair done.
